DAY 10 - Great Ship mini-expansion, more press videos and live gameplay!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Jan 15, 2021 at 03:25:06 AM

Dear Explorers,

We hope you are all doing well and that you are enjoying this journey with us. We recently have unlocked a goal and we are two goals away to reveal our next batch.

Tabletop Simulator news

Tomorrow we will be publishing an update with the Solo mode rules and updating the Tabletop Simulator version with both the Solo mode and the automatic setup for our introductory scenario if this is your first time playing.

Our Darwin’s Journey Tabletop Simulator module has been installed more than 2000 times and more than 500 games of 2 to 4 players have been played, making this our most successful digital implementation yet! This is just amazing!

We are working on a special tournament that will be happening during the campaign. More information will be released soon!

Great Ship mini-expansion

Since the Companion animal cards, you have been so excited about the possibility to have more asymmetry in the game, and we are so excited to announce the Great Ship mini-expansion!

Created by Simone Luciani and Nestore Mangone, the deck is composed of 11 Great Ship cards. Each player will draft one in reverse turn order during setup and will grant very powerful asymmetric abilities to the players!

This mini-expansion will be available as an add-on for 5€ and you will be able to add it on our pledge manager once the campaign ends.

We will be hosting a live stream show tomorrow Jan 15th at 7:00 pm CET | 1:00 pm EST where we will be exploring the Galapagos by using this new mini-expansion.

We will be explaining the rules as we go, and you will be able to see the fantastic combos that can be done by using them.

During the live stream, we will be giving away some add-ons and Luis will be reading the chat to answer any of your questions live.

Tune in to our Twitch channel or visit the campaign page at the time of the stream. We hope to see you there!

More press videos

Yesterday, Steph Hodge did an amazing live stream of Darwin’s Journey that we really recommend you to watch!

Moreover, here are a couple of new videos from the press: a one minute video from Sarah Shah and our first how to play video in French by Rémi Benoit

Thank you very much for all your incredible support and talking again tomorrow!

Sincerely yours,
Everybody here at Thundergryph Games

Great Ships mini-expansion is now a Stretch Goal
about 5 years ago – Fri, Jan 15, 2021 at 03:07:01 AM

Dear Explorers,

If you scroll down until the end of our campaign page in our Risk and Challenges section there is a list of the most important principles that as a boardgame publisher and Kickstarter creators we believe in: We learn, we hear you.

We have read your comments in our update and KS page about adding the Great Ship as an add-on and we understand your point.

There are a lot of people involved in the creation of game content, not only the idea that starts from the designers, but there is art direction, game editing, and a lot of testing to be done. That being said, without you, none of these could be possible and we need to stay true to the importance of your opinion as the people that are funding this dream of ours.

We have had similar content on past campaigns and all of the add-ons have been crafted with the same amount of dedication and passion as the one we presented today, but we completely understand that you would prefer content like the one shown on the Great Ship to be a stretch goal instead of paid content for this campaign.

We sincerely appreciate how amazing the campaign is going and we are thankful to all of you for your support. We are officially switching the Great Ship to be a stretch goal that we are now updating on our Kickstarter page.

Thank you for being honest with us and for helping us shape this campaign as your own and for being understanding.

We hope to see you tomorrow in our live stream, where we will show how this mini-expansion works!

Sincerely yours,

Everybody here at Thundergryph Games

Dear Explorers,

We are wrapping up the first week of the campaign with 30 stretch goals unlocked and almost 8000 of you! We still have another two weeks before the end and we can’t wait to talk to you and show you more about the game.

New Stretch Goals Reveals

Here are the new set of goals and the most interesting thing about this is that we can already show you the pre-production look of the metal coins belonging to the goal!

This is still not the end of our journey and a new set of three goals will be revealed once we reach the final milestone.

Thank you for your amazing support!

Metal Coins pre-production photo

We are excited to show you the final look of the metal coins! You can already see how this darker wash looks and how it gives that aged finish to the metal.

We took a couple of photos, one with natural light and one under artificial light, for you to see the difference.

Because we know some of you may ask it, the golden coins are 25mm in diameter (valued 5) and the bronze coins are 20mm in diameter (valued 1)

DAY 5 - The Last Pirate ship mini-expansion!
about 5 years ago – Sun, Jan 10, 2021 at 12:36:38 AM

Dear Explorers,

This campaign is a dream come true to us! You have unlocked 27 Stretch Goals in no time.

We know you have heard this so many times so far, but we truly appreciate all the love and support you have shown for this game, so thank you so much!

We are starting the fifth day of the campaign with exciting news!

We really wanted to add a pinch of direct player interaction to the game and we felt there was an opportunity to create a small side story for this new stretch goal revealed, fueled by a bit of imagination.

The Last Pirate ship mini-expansion

The 17th and 18th centuries are known to be the golden age of Piracy. For pirates, the Galapagos wasn't a safe place to settle, but buccaneers made port in them due to their strategic location.

With the end of the 18th century, the golden era of Piracy slowly faded, but the last pirate ship still sailed the coasts of the Galapagos. The last pirate ship will be part of a mini-expansion that we wanted to create for fun, out of our imagination. We hope you will enjoy the gameplay that has been built around it.

This mechanism introduces a concept of debt, where players, during the exploration,  will be able to get coins by collecting treasures, but at the same time, the more you get, the more you will have to pay back to the pirates if they find you navigating the ocean area they are in.

There is so much we would love to share with you about the game, but thankfully we have many more days to spend together talking about Darwin’s Journey and to show you the rules and the live gameplay.

Tomorrow we are not going to post an update, but we will be back on Monday with more news. We wish you a great weekend!

Sincerely yours,
Everybody here at Thundergryph Games
